Hiclone Testing
The magazine stated that :" Hiclone claims that a carby engine will get between 15 and 20% improvement in economy, an EFI engine will get between 10 to 15% LPG powered from 5 to 20% and diesels from 5 to 10%. The 80 series diesel tested gave an improvement from 13.15 litres/100kms to 10.91 l/100 with one Hiclone and 10.05 with two Hiclones. That is 17% and 23.5% improvement in fuel useage. For economy the Hiclone is fitted at the intake manifold and for power it is fitted close to the air cleaner. First impression was that the engine operated more smoothly. If you are sceptical about fitting any parts into the air intake system then the Hiclone with no moving parts is a good idea. The Hiclone costs $175 each and a lifetime warranty applies. For a saving of 2l/100kms it will pay for itself soon enough and there is a 30 day money back guarantee."
Installation Guide
Carburettor/Throttle Body Injection type.
Electronic Fuel Injection and Diesel type.
|

Remove air inlet hose, located between throttle body & air filter box. |

Install Hiclone unit, making sure it fits snug & tightly inside of hose. |

Replace hose & secure clamp. |
Note for Diesel Installation
The Hiclone installation in a diesel engine is basically the same as with EFI but the device fits in the hose just before the inlet manifold.
Note for Turbo Diesel Installation
Two Hiclone can be fitted, one just before the inlet manifold and the other just after the air filter. This will create turbulence and bring the turbo on earlier. I.e. Up to 500 rpm.
Note for Post Turbo Installation
If the hose is very short you may have trouble bending it to put it back on with the Hiclone inside. The device is 40mm long. If that is the case, measure the inside diameter of the inlet manifold and put it in there.
Measuring the diameter for EFI and diesel engines
Measure the inside diameter of the airhose using a milimeter ruler just before the inlet manifold on diesel engines. On EFI engines - 150 / 200 mm back from the throttle body if there is a break in the hose, just after the air filter or just after the air flow meter if one is fitted.
Note for Twin Carburetors
Engines with twin carburetors with air filters on the guard and two pipes going to the carburetors, require two Hiclones - One for each pipe.
Note for Extra Performance
Two Hiclones can be fitted to gain extra Performance, on diesels one just before the inlet manifold the other at the other end of the air hose. EFI motors one 150/200 mm back from the throttle body, the other just after the air flow meter.
