Our Products - Unifilter - Maintenance

Congratulations, you have chosen the best air filter cleaning system available for your vehicle. The cost of your UniFilter will be repaid many times over, via superior filtering ability resulting in a reduction of engine wear. An increase in power and\or economy (in majority of cases) and by the elimination of the cost of replacing paper filters.

WHEN TO CLEAN AND RE-OIL.

UniFilter air filters are supplied pre-oiled with Filter Fix. Cleaning and re-oiling in normal road cars subjected to sealed highway and suburban road use will usually be required between 25,000 and 30,000 kilometres. Regular inspection is advised (approximately every 5,000km) to ensure that the element is not drying out. More frequent maintenance may be required in dusty conditions.

TO MAXIMISE MAINTENANCE INTERVALS

Conventional Round and Oval Filters; approximately every 5,000km-

  • Invert the filter to counteract any draining of the Filter Fix oil.
  • Rotate the filter to expose a cleaner area to the point of air entry.

Flat panel style filters; approximately every 5,000km - Rotate filter end for end.

HOW TO CLEAN

  • Remove foam or outer band from the filter’s expanded metal cage. In the case of 2 stage elements check the inner foam for dirt or drying out. If the inner foam is dirty or dry service the same as outer band.
  • Thoroughly wash out using MINERAL TURPENTINE.

HOW TO RE-OIL

  • Completely saturate foam\bands with warm UniFlow Filter Fix oiling compound. A plastic ice cream container is an ideal receptical for this purpose.
  • Fold the foam and squeeze, DO NOT wring out, to remove all excess oil. Note: you cannot remove to much oil by hand squeezing.
  • Replace bands\foam onto the metal cage. In the case of very large or tall filters, use a plastic bag over the cage to allow the foams to slide with ease onto the cage, then pull out cage from between foams and cage.

WARNING

Never allow your UniFilter element to dry out. It is the UniFilter Filter Fix oil that provides the filter’s sticky surface that holds the dust particles; providing the unique dust retention that UniFilter elements are renown for. In principle, UniFilter elements work on the same basis as the human nose - a wet sticky passage collecting dust as as air passes.

WARRANTY

UniFilter Australia warrants that the element supplied is free from defects in workmanship and material. Unless subject to abuse, neglect, incorrect fitment or other circumstances beyond the control of UniFilter Australia; then the filter will be replaced without cost for a period of 3 years from date of purchase.
